Just Invest and Become Insanely Wealthy by Jayaram Rajaram – Book Review

I just took the book in my hands and began with random observations on random pages. Somehow, I reached page number 102, the one with an interview with Pavitra Shankar, Brigade Enterprises. The interview was solid with important observations on the real estate in the country and how one can ensure better gains with a little caution. I got to know about REITs and how one can assure safety even when the market goes down. This interview aroused my curiosity in the book and I started reading it carefully. It does not more than 2-3 hours to read a book with about 120 pages. However, as this was about strategies and investments and involving money, I rather read it carefully than leisurely and hurriedly browsing the pages. Yes, I was cautious while reading it.

The book by Jayaram Rajaram, Just Invest and Become Insanely Wealthy, will turn anyone into a wise investor who does not necessarily rely on data and numbers but can manage to bank on his or her intuition and analysis off the candles’ screen. Jayaram has also suggested the ideal tools for such analysis that he personally uses. There are 12 chapters in this book. There is one bonus chapter on the topic of cryptocurrency. There are interviews in the book as well. The chapters do not take many pages to end and that’s a relief for the readers who cannot find too much time to spend on reading literature because of their jobs or any other job that keeps them busy!

The author has shared his personal experiences in the stock market and other places where one can invest money for better gains compared to putting money in your bank account and getting simple returns (but surer ones). However, to minimise the risks, Jayaram does share some of his used and tested strategies:

“… So the key to buying good dividend-yielding stocks is to buy consistent high dividend-paying companies at a price well below their fair value or even book value. As always you could easily track these companies using www.simplywall.st or www.screener.in.”

There are many tips and suggestions in the book that new investors can utilise and start their portfolios with wonderful stocks that pay well. Moreover, the book also discusses investment opportunities like investing in real estate, investing in agriculture, investing in crowdfunded items being loaned to companies or factories and so many other opportunities that modern investors are exploring. Since the author has spent many years in the market and explored almost every kind of investment option, one can surely rely on his wisdom and suggestions.

You will find this book to be innovative, ideal for beginners and also a little unorthodox. The author himself announced at the very beginning of his book that the book will offer different options and opinions than 99% of investors in the market might do. So, be ready for the difference. Be ready for the unorthodox. Be ready for the unexpected as you read the book.
